Free and open to the public! This river cruise is part of the Unearthing First America Symposium hosted by Flagler College, the Florida Public Archaeology Network, LAMP and the Lighthouse, and the Florida Humanities Council.

This event was a great success! A few pictures, taken by Maureen Ortagus, are included below.

We were honored to have the greatest scholars of St. Augustine history on board. From left to right, here are three of them: Dr. Susan Parker of the St. Augustine Historical Society, Dr. Kathleen Deagan (Distinguished Research Curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History, and adjunct Professor of Anthropology, History and Latin American Studies at the University of Florida), and the "Dean of Florida Studies" himself Dr. Michael Gannon, professor emeritus of history at the University of Florida.

Brendan demonstrates the side scan sonar, pointing at a monitor displaying a sonar image of the river bottom below the boat.

What a great view of the Lighthouse and the skyline of America's oldest port from the top deck of the tour boat!
